Job Description

We are seeking qualified professionals to provide clinical counseling services at locations worldwide in support of the Navy Fleet and Family Support Program (FFSP). This program serves active-duty members of the Navy, Marine Corps, Army, and Air Force, along with their eligible family members. Additionally, services extend to reserve military personnel, military retirees, foreign military service members stationed in the area, and other designated individuals as authorized.

About the Role

The Clinical Counselor will provide critical counseling, advocacy, and crisis intervention services to individuals, families, and groups. Responsibilities include conducting assessments and delivering short-term, solution-focused counseling. The role focuses on assisting with Adjustment Disorders and Other Conditions That May Be a Focus of Clinical Attention. Counselors will also ensure appropriate referrals for individuals requiring longer-term behavioral health support, psychiatric care, or specialized intervention services.

Key Responsibilities

Provide individual consultations, group workshops, and informational sessions during return and reunion, departure, and separation programs.

Engage in outreach efforts to support high-risk groups, including first-term service members, geographically separated or socially isolated families, single parents, foreign-born spouses, and those with special needs.

Conduct training sessions and workshops for Command Family Readiness Groups.

Deliver pre- and post-deployment Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) training using standardized curricula, where applicable.

Facilitate assessments and solution-focused counseling for individuals, couples, and families.

Ensure appropriate referrals for behavioral health follow-up for cases requiring medical or psychiatric intervention.

Manage specialized assessment and intervention services for at-risk children, both within and outside of the Family Advocacy Program (FAP).

Report suspected child abuse and domestic violence to appropriate authorities per Navy and state regulations, and implement restricted reporting policies as applicable.

Participate in quality assurance procedures to ensure high standards of clinical service delivery.

Maintain detailed documentation and records in compliance with current Navy requirements.

Support emergency preparedness efforts, including participation in emergency response exercises and the execution of Emergency Family Assistance Center responsibilities.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Licensing:

Master's or Doctoral degree in a relevant field:

Counseling (accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs)

Social Work (accredited by the Council on Social Work Education)

Marriage and Family Therapy (accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Marriage and Family Therapy Education)

Clinical or Counseling Psychology (Doctoral degree with a one-year internship accredited by the American Psychological Association)

Current, valid, and unrestricted clinical license or certification from a U.S. state or territory authorizing independent clinical practice in professional counseling, clinical social work, marriage and family therapy, or clinical/counseling psychology.

Must meet Tier II qualifications as defined in SECNAVINST 1754.8.

Experience & Skills:

At least two years of full-time, post-master's supervised clinical experience.

Demonstrated ability to provide direct clinical services within the past two years.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge of state, federal, and local resources relevant to child abuse and domestic violence prevention.

Ability to work with diverse populations, including military personnel and their families.

Experience in child abuse and domestic violence prevention (minimum two years preferred).

Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and other relevant software.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $50,000 - $92,000 (compensation based on experience, skills, and market data).
